Database Expert

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Database Expert L2 to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in IBM databases, managed database services, and database optimization techniques. This role involves managing, optimizing, and ensuring the reliability and performance of our database systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Database Management: Oversee the administration, maintenance, and performance tuning of IBM databases and other managed database services.
• Optimization: Implement and manage database optimization strategies to enhance performance, including indexing, query optimization, and resource management.
• Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor database performance, identify issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and reliability.
• Backup and Recovery: Develop and manage backup and recovery plans to protect data integrity and ensure business continuity.
• Security: Implement and maintain database security measures to protect sensitive data and comply with regulatory requirements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with development teams to design and optimize database schemas, queries, and stored procedures.
• Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in database administration, with a focus on IBM databases and managed database services.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in IBM DB2, SQL, and other database management systems. Strong knowledge of database optimization techniques and tools.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex database issues.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Certifications: Relevant certifications in database management and optimization are a plus.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
• Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance standards.
• Familiarity with automation tools and scripting languages for database management.
